Central Coast Mariners’ Peta Trimis will now return to Emily Husband’s squad after playing a starring role at the U20 Women’s Asia Cup.
Trimis, 17, was the youngest player to be nominated for the Future Star of the Tournament award, following three goals and an assist as Leah Blayney’s team took home the Bronze Medal.
The Young Matildas were knocked out by runners-up Japan in the semi-finals, before beating South Korea in the third place play-off.

Trimis inspired the Young Matildas to a 2-1 comeback victory over South Korea on Matchday One with her first international goal.
She followed that up with a star performance on Matchday Two as she scored and assisted against hosts Uzbekistan in a 2-0 win.
The team confirmed their progression as group winners with a 100% record with a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei, with Trimis playing 74 minutes before being given a deserved rest.
In the semi-final, Trimis scored her third of the tournament, racing clear of the Japanese defence before slotting home an equaliser, but the Young Matildas would go on to lose, placing them in the third-place play-offs where they would face South Korea once again.

Blayney’s team won 1-0, confirming a third place finish in the competition and the Bronze Medal, which equals Australiaās best-ever finish at the tournament.
Plus, in reaching the semi-final, the team secured qualification for the FIFA U20 Womenās World Cup Colombia 2024ā¢.
Trimis now returns to Emily Husband’s squad, with two fixtures remaining in the Liberty A-League and still so much to play for with the Mariners.
Husband’s team still have an outside chance at the Premiership, and also are looking forward to a Finals campaign which was secured with Sunday’s 4-1 win over Canberra.
