Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce experienced defender Storm Roux has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
The 33-year-old right back is heading into his eleventh season with the Mariners, across two spells, and after missing just one game in the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025/26 season, now sits on 257 appearances in all competitions – placing him second to only John Hutchinson (271) in our all-time appearance rankings.
Roux’s second spell with the club has been particularly successful, playing a key role in the Mariners teams that won the 2022/23 Championship and the historic 2023/24 treble.
In continuing this season, Roux is in line to further cement himself in the A-League and Mariners history books. As well as having Hutchinson’s club record in sight, he is just six games away from becoming only the 16th player to make 300 A-League appearances.
Kosta Barbarouses (372), Rhyan Grant (346) and Andrew Redmayne (302) are the only active A-League players to have played more games than Roux, meaning he could realistically close in on a place in the top 10 all-time A-League appearance makers.
A popular and well-respected member of not just our squad, but the Central Coast community, Roux’s contract extension is an important one ahead of our Isuzu UTE A-League 2026/27 campaign, providing valuable experience, leadership and continuity into our new chapter.
After signing his new deal, Roux said:
“I’m very happy to be staying with the club into this new era.”
“Hopefully I can help bring more success while also helping the younger players reach their potential.
“This club means a lot to me. I’ve been here so long and seen all aspects – with the tough times and two very successful years when we won two Championships for the Coast. Seeing the joy it brought our fans was amazing.
“I am looking forward to contributing again this season, it’s a new era for the club which will hopefully bring success.
“On a personal note, hitting 300 A-League games would be a great milestone.
“It would be amazing to do that [break Hutchinson’s record]. So many legends have played for the Mariners, so it’s already a huge honour to have played as many times as I have for this club.”
Sporting Director Matt Simon commented on the importance of keeping Roux at the club, and his status as a club legend.
“Storm’s contribution to the Mariners speaks for itself, to play more than 250 games for one club is a remarkable achievement and testament to his consistency, professionalism and commitment.” Simon said.
“His leadership and experience within the dressing room are equally as important as what he provides on the pitch. He is a true Mariners legend and a fantastic role model for the younger players at the club.”
“We are delighted to have him at the club for another season, and we’re looking forward to seeing him add even more appearances to his tally.”
Roux is the second player to sign a new Mariners contract this week, after Diesel Herrington’s new deal was announced yesterday, and more exciting player announcements are to follow in the coming days.
