Jacob Farrell signs on until 2025

We are excited to announce that Jacob Farrell will be staying with the Central Coast Mariners for the next three years after a fantastic breakout season.

The young full-back made a total of 25 league appearances including an F3 Derby goal on his Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s debut.

Farrell spent much of his teenage years developing his footballing skills in the academy under the leadership of Nick Montgomery and Sérgio Raimundo.

His hard work in the club’s academy system was rewarded with a professional contract prior to the commencement of the 2021/22 season.

Not only did the 19-year-old’s impressive club form see him attract interest from overseas, but he also earned a call-up to the Australia Under-23 squad where he featured three times in the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan in June.

This re-signing reflects the club’s intent to secure young players on long-term contracts with fellow academy graduates Josh Nisbet, Dan Hall and Max Balard also inking new deals in recent months.

Head Coach Nick Montgomery praised the left-back’s work ethic.

“Jacob is an outstanding young player and already in one season has shown that he has a massive future. He is a pleasure to work with every day and while quiet off the field he has a big impact on the field.

“He has a level of consistency far beyond his years and he will only get better with further development. We are delighted that Jacob has committed his future to the club as this speaks volumes for what we are trying to do at the Mariners,” Montgomery added.

Jacob Farrell is a Central Coast local and is looking forward to continuing his footballing journey with the club.

“It’s an honour to re-sign for the club that gave me an opportunity in professional football. I hope to repay the Mariners with my efforts on the field over the coming years,” said Farrell.

“I’d also like to thank Monty [Nick Montgomery] and Serg [Sérgio Raimundo] for believing in my ability and giving me a chance on the big stage.”

Farrell’s agent Paddy Dominguez spoke about the interest they gathered from overseas.

“Jacob is one of the best young defenders I’ve seen in this country in a long time and his outstanding defensive stats last year are a clear indication of his potential,” said Dominguez.

“Even though there is plenty of work and improvement ahead for Jacob, we have already had plenty of interest from big teams in Europe and I have no doubt whatsoever that with his continuing development under Monty [Nick Montgomery] and his coaching staff and with the support of Central Coast Mariners there is a very bright future ahead for Jacob, both at club level and for Australia”.

Jacob Farrell will be in action when Central Coast Mariners meet Sydney FC in the Australia Cup Round of 32 on Sunday, July 31st.
