Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Phil Moss has named an initial 18-player squad for Friday-s crunch Hyundai A-League showdown against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.

Despite suffering a knock to the head during last week-s 2-1 win over Sydney FC, Joshua Rose is in contention to play against Kevin Muscat-s side, with the left back to potentially wear protective headwear during the encounter.

Storm Roux featured for the New Zealand National Team against Japan overnight as the All Whites went down 4-2 to the Samurai Blue in Tokyo. Despite playing 67 minutes against the men from the land of the rising sun, Roux may also feature against the blue & whites.

In a significant boost to Phil Moss-s side Nick Montgomery and Matt Simon will return to the squad after a week off, while Brent Griffiths comes into the frame for Hyundai A-League match time to sure up defence set to be without Eddy Bosnar (groin – 1 week).
