Central Coast Mariners new signing Jair is ready for the first meeting between his new club and league newcomers Western United this Sunday at Central Coast Stadium.
Jair trained with the Mariners for a number of weeks before officially signing with Alen Stajcicās squad at the beginning of this week and said he is looking forward to the challenge ahead this weekend.
āIt wonāt be easy,ā he said on Tuesday morning.
āWe started well this season but the last two games have been tough with the result.ā
āBut we are in a process and hopefully this weekend we can take the positive result.ā
āItās a challenge to face Western United, but I am here for that, I have been [away] from my country for 10 years, I am 31 and I believe that I can help with scoring some goals.ā

Western will be looking to bounce back after a loss to the Jets on Saturday night, their second of the season and they now sit fourth on the table after six rounds.
The forward has enjoyed his time with the squad in recent weeks, building his way up to match fitness after a period spent back in Brazil and speaking with Stajcic about an opportunity.
āThe guys are great, the ambience is good and theyāre easy to fit in with,ā he said.
āTheyāre giving me an important spot, the environment is good for me to be able to do my job and to improve as well.ā
āThese last three weeks havenāt been too hard, the staff have allowed me to get up to speed. ā
āIām feeling in good shape and hopefully I can score some goals this season.
āOur staff are doing a great job and I am glad to be here and excited for this weekend.ā
Sundayās match will kick off at 6pm, and fans are reminded that $2 from every ticket purchased will be donated towards the NSW Rural Fire Service to support their ongoing efforts across the state.
