SATURDAY’S top-of-the-table clash between the yellow and navy and ladder leaders Adelaide United marks David Bradasevic-s first ever involvement in a Hyundai A-League fixture.
The promising gloveman admits he is nervous but says he is looking forward to gaining an insight into life as a Hyundai A-League player when he takes his place on the bench for the first time in Australia-s top flight.
“I-m a bit nervous,” Bradasevic said. “If anything happens to (Justin) Pasfield, I-ll have to come onto the field. It-s been a dream of mine to play professional football from a young age and I get that opportunity tomorrow. Overall I-m very happy to make my debut on the bench, it should be a good day.”
The Mariners enjoy a strong record against the Reds with five straight wins and have only been defeated on three occasions in 11 meetings between the two sides at Gosford-s idyllic bayside arena.
Bradasevic says the squad is prepared for the encounter with John Kosmina-s men after a well-earned victory over Brisbane Roar last Sunday.
“Everyone is confident and everybody is relaxed. We have just been taking it day-by-day and training hard each day,” he said.
The 19-year-old will also be involved in Sunday-s National Youth League match at the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence when John McLafferty-s men take on fifth-placed Western Sydney Wanderers Youth.
The junior Mariners will be looking for all three points after the side-s first defeat of the campaign against Brisbane Roar Youth last weekend. Despite the result against John Sime-s outfit, the yellow and navy remain in top spot on the NYL ladder.
“The positive that we can take out of that game was that we didn-t stop fighting and we didn-t give up. We kept pressing and kept trying to create chances but overall a 1-0 loss. What can you do? We-ve lost just one game out of six. We-ll take on this weekend and see how we go,” he said.
The visitors head to Tuggerah following a 2-1 win over the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) last Sunday and Bradasevic says he is expecting a tough contest.
“I know Trevor Morgan (Head Coach) from school and a few players from there. They should be a tough opposition, even though it-s only their first season in the National Youth League. It will be tough and the weather should be hot as well, we-ll just take it as it comes,” he concluded.
