The Central Coast Mariners are extremely pleased to announce the signing of versatile footballer Noah Smith from Brisbane Roar on a two-year deal.
The youngster returns to the Central Coast after a season away, having spent time with Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar over the past 12 months.
Smith initially joined for the Mariners as Head Coach Nick Montgomery’s second ever signing in 2021, joining from his hometown club, Adelaide United.
The fullback, who can also play as a winger, had a strong season in Yellow and Navy, featuring eleven times in all competitions.
He was able to find the back of the net twice in those matches, his first against APIA Leichhardt in the Australia Cup, before scoring against Macarthur FC in Mudgee.
At the conclusion of the season, Smith departed to join up with Melbourne Victory, where he featured seven times during the first half of the campaign.
He made a mid-season switch to Brisbane, making six appearances during the latter stages of the season.
Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Nick Montgomery is pleased to see the 22-year-old return to the Coast, seeing him as a valuable inclusion to the squad.
“Losing Noah 12 months ago was not my intention and unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to renew his contract and Victory actioned the right to sign him,” Montgomery said.
“The opportunity to bring him back to the club to strengthen our squad depth was an opportunity too good to turn down. He understands our culture and expectations and speaking to him he is desperate to get his career back on track. I know he will work hard to do that.”
Smith is extremely excited to be returning to the Central Coast, eager to get started under the guidance of Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo.
“I’m extremely excited to come back to a place where I believe that I played my best football. I know what this club can do, we all saw that last season. Being back with Monty and Serge is something that I need personally so it is great to be back,” Smith said.
“I can’t wait to get out onto Industree Group Stadium, get some more wins and hopefully repeat what the boys did last season.”
