The Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce the signing of 16 year old goalkeeper Will Martin on a scholarship contract.
Originally from New Zealand, Martin joins the Mariners from Queensland Lions FC as he takes the next step in his football career on the Central Coast.
At 1.94m, the right-footed goalkeeper joins the club with an opportunity to continue developing in a professional environment.
Central Coast Mariners Sporting Director Matt Simon said the Club was looking forward to welcoming Martin.
“Will is an exciting young goalkeeper, and we’re pleased to give him the opportunity to take this next step with the Mariners,” Simon said.
“At just 16, he has plenty of development ahead of him. Our role is to give him the coaching, support and challenges he needs to keep improving.
“We want players who are hungry to learn and prepared to work hard. We’re looking forward to seeing Will embrace the opportunity and grow within our environment.”
Martin said he was excited to begin the next chapter of his career on the Central Coast.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Mariners and grateful for the opportunity to continue my development at the Club,” Martin said.
“Moving to the Central Coast is a big step for me, but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to. I can’t wait to meet everyone, get into training and learn as much as I can.
“The Mariners have given so many young players an opportunity. I know there’s a lot of hard work ahead, and I’m ready to give it everything.”
The Mariners welcome Will and his family to the club.
