Central Coast Mariners have strengthened their defence with the signing of former Western Sydney Wanderers player Nectarios Triantis on a three-year deal.
The club have been monitoring the 19-year-old for a number of years following his impressive performances in the Western Sydney Wanderers academy.
The move reflects the Mariners’ strategy to secure young players on long-term deals with the aim of developing them into outstanding athletes and working with our global network of agents to place them in the best leagues in the world.
Head Coach Nick Montgomery spoke about Triantis’ superb ability and potential.
“Nectarios is a player who we have admired for a while since we saw him playing at Western Sydney Wanderers and dominating games with his physical presence and calmness on the ball.
“He is a physical athlete for his age but also possesses the attitude and technical qualities to go to the top level. He is an exceptional talent and fits our club’s model of young players who we feel can develop,” Montgomery added.
“He has already settled in and will be an integral part of the squad this season adding depth at the back as well as in midfield with his versatility.”
Nectarios Triantis will be a part of the squad that will take on Sydney FC in the Australia Cup Round of 32 on Sunday, July 31st.
