Young midfielder Harry Steele will remain at the club for the next three years following a superb breakout season in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s.
The Central Coast local enjoyed a stellar campaign which featured a total of 23 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s appearances, including a starting position in last season’s elimination final in Adelaide.
The 19-year-old joins an extensive list of young players who developed their skills in the academy system under the guidance of Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo and then promoted to the first team.
The new deal for Harry Steele aligns with the Mariners’ strategy of signing young players on long-term contracts.
Head Coach Nick Montgomery spoke about Steele’s growth over recent seasons.
“Harry has been at the club for a number of years and I even coached him at under-16 level so I have seen his progression over the years. He is another success story from our academy system which we are very proud of.
“He was a big part of our team last season, featuring in the Cup final and elimination final so he is no stranger to big occasions. We are very happy to have Harry continuing his career at the club and there is a lot more to come from him.” Montgomery added.
Harry Steele mentioned his delight to remain with his home town club.
“I am very happy to re-sign. Thanks to all of the coaching staff for the opportunity and I am excited for the next three seasons ahead.”
Harry Steele will be in action on Sunday, July 31st when Central Coast Mariners take on Sydney FC in the Australia Cup Round of 32.
