Central Coast Mariners have ramped up preparations for the upcoming season with a convincing four-nil victory over Isuzu UTE A-League opposition Macarthur FC in a pre-season friendly behind closed doors.
The match took place on Saturday, July 23rd at Central Coast Stadium with the meeting between the two New South Wales clubs acting as a dress rehearsal before both sides take part in the Australia Cup Round of 32 next week.
Some of the Mariners new signings impressed with Ghanaian striker Paul Ayongo and former Bulls attacker Michael Ruhs both getting on the scoresheet.
Béni Nkololo also joined the scorers list before Garang Kuol forced an own goal following a fantastic run and cross into the box.
Head Coach Nick Montgomery was full of praise for his side and is hoping to strengthen his squad even further.
“For only our second week back in training, I was really pleased with the teams performance as a whole. The way the new players have integrated so quickly is testament to the group.
“We are a young team and I am working hard to bring in a few more players to complete the squad so that we have depth and competition which will be vital in order to challenge again this season.” Montgomery added.
