The Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets youth teams provided a thrilling spectacle on Tuesday night, with the Youth #F3Derby eventually seeing spoils shared at 2-2.
Nick Montgomery’s side seemed to do everything but score in the dying stages as they threw all they had left at the Jets, but the frame of goal and Lewis Italiano worked together to deny the hosts.

Harry McCarthy had early claims for a penalty turned down as the Mariners charged out of the blocks, and shortly afterwards Josh Nisbet struck the upright as they pinned the Jets back.
And it was only a matter of time before the scoring was opened, with Alou Kuol converting from the penalty spot after James Bayliss was fouled in the area.
A lapse of concentration allowed a free header for the Jets four minutes before half-time though, and Kosta Petratos ensured that scores were level at the break.
The Jets began the second half better as well and took the lead just before the 50-minute mark, but it only lasted until Jordan Smylie levelled scores with 17 minutes to play.
From there the Mariners were in total control as they pushed for a result, but were unable to find the winner as time wound down.
They now sit level on points with Sydney FC at the top of the conference, ahead of a home clash with Canberra United at Pluim Park on Saturday morning.
