Three second half strikes and a first half penalty save saw the Central Coast Mariners Youth team defeat Sydney FC Youth 3-0 away from home on Saturday evening.
Goals to Nick Faust, Dylan Ruiz-Diaz & Mikey Katsoulis were enough for the Ray Junna’s side to claim three points.
Although a special mention must go to goalkeeper Joe Gauci who made a crucial penalty save in the first half to keep his side on level terms at 0-0. In the 12th minute, Cameron Devlin was brought down in the box which saw the referee award a spot kick. Lokoli-Ngoy stepped up, but Gauci made an impressive save for the Mariners.
The drama-filled first half continued when Sydney FC Youth’s keeper, Dragicevic, was shown red in the 27th minute.
The junior Sky Blues held on until half time, but Mariners goals in the 65th, 80th & 90th minute ended the game in favour of the away team.
