Walking Football on the Central Coast

The Central Coast Mariners are proud to announce that they now offer an alternative style of football for the Central Coast region.

For the first time in several years, a Walking Football Tournament will take place at Soccer 5s at Tuggerah as teams from around the country fly in to be crowned champions on Saturday 20th of August.

Walking football is an adaptive football game that encourages mature lovers of the sport to continue to be involved by changing the rules, preventing injuries and facilitating the playing of the sport by those who may not be as quick as they used to be or physically struggle to keep up with the speed of the traditional 11 v 11 game.

The main premise of Walking Football is in the name, with a free kick conceded if you run. This, along with the restriction of slide tackles ensures the game is played at a consistent speed in a five-aside format.

This tournament is aimed at Men over 50 and Women over 40 and will offer two competitions, social and professional for those at different stages of their Walking Football careers.

Already, Football Queensland are committed to bringing teams down for the tournament as well as across New South Wales, with Ballina, Wollongong and Sydney North indicating their desire to enter.

At just $200 per team for a full day tournament, you won’t want to miss this special day on the Central Coast.
