By clicking here you will be able to cast your vote on who you think deserves the ‘Noel Spencer Goal of the Year’ that was won last year by Anthony Caceres for his strike against Newcastle Jets. Re-live the goals in the video carousel above.
Your nominees are:
Anthony Caceres: Last year’s winner has put himself in contention once again with his bullet in Round 21 against Adelaide United. After snatching possession from The Reds’ backline he was quick to hit home from the top of the box.
Glen Trifiro: Down 2-0 against Melbourne City in Round 6, ‘Tricky’ stood over a dead ball in the 79th minute and curled his precision free-kick into the top corner to put the yellow and navy back in contention.
John Hutchinson: In the same fixture against Melbourne City when the match seemed all but over, it was our fearless leader who stepped up to belt home a low and hard strike in the 94th minute to salvage a point.
Fabio Ferreira: In Round 20 against Melbourne City it was a perfect set piece that rolled to ‘La Flecha’. Ferreira pulled the trigger, giving Tando Velaphi no chance in the 74th minute at Central Coast Stadium.
Nick Montgomery: The Mariners were 1-0 down to a red hot Perth Glory in Round 22 but it was Monty who took the game into his own hands with one of the most impressive shots you’d ever see. After Perth thought they had cleared the danger in the 92nd minute it was “a howitzer” from all of 35 yards out that stole a point at Central Coast Stadium.
Josh Rose: In our last home match of the season against Western Sydney Wanderers, ‘Rosey’ found himself on the scoresheet with less than two minutes on the clock. It was the impressive and immediate build up of Anthony Kalik and Caceres that kicked the attack into gear that was capped off perfectly by a booming Rose run and classy finish.
