After a morale boosting come from behind 2-2 draw on New Year’s Eve, Okon has named his provisional squad for this Sunday’s match against Sydney FC.
Okon’s side have enjoyed a full week of preparation ahead of their Hyundai A-League round 14 hit out with Sydney FC after having played both Melbourne sides in the space of four days.
The injury ward has somewhat cleared out with both Mickael Tavares and Storm Roux back to full training and available for selection against Graham Arnold’s Sydney FC.
Unfortunately, it’s one-out-one-in when it comes to our experienced campaigners as Jacques Faty will be sidelined this week due to the hamstring injury he sustained against Melbourne City.
The addition of Tavares provides healthy competition for places in the midfield between the likes of Nick Montgomery, Adam Berry & Liam Rose who will all be fighting for a spot in Okon’s 11.
The New Year’s Eve bench was arguably our strongest bench of the season which included Fabio Ferreira & Connor Pain who made way for Kwabena Appiah & Trent Buhagiar. All four wide attackers are at full fitness and are also competing for a spot this Sunday.
In the defensive stocks Jacob Poscoliero continues his recovery from illness that has kept him from full training since midway through December.
All the action on Sunday kicks off with the pre-game function at 2:30pm which includes a jumping castle, BBQ and the coast’s best craft beer thanks to Six String Brewery.
