Central Coast Mariners defender Storm Roux made his full international debut for New Zealand on Wednesday, however despite putting in a strong shift at Wellington-s Westpac Stadium, Roux couldn-t prevent Mexico from outclassing the All Whites 4-2.

Like Roux, fellow Mariner Michael McGlinchey also played the full 90 minutes for New Zealand at the ‘Cake Tin-, with Ricki Herbert-s men missing out on qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after an aggregate 9-3 defeat to ‘El Tri-.

Despite the heavy aggregate loss, Roux-s performance in the second leg in Wellington suggests the preciously talented 20-year-old should well get the opportunity to don the All Whites- kit again in the future.

With their international commitments with New Zealand now complete, Roux and McGlinchey will return to Australia tomorrow to link with the Mariners- squad prior to this Saturday-s Hyundai A-League 2013/14 Round 7 clash against Perth Glory at Perth-s nib Stadium.

Should he be selected in the Phil Moss-s first matchday squad, Roux will undoubtedly be keen to impress in the game against Alistair Edwards- purple-whites – the youngster spent three seasons with Glory-s NYL side, making his Hyundai A-League debut with the West Australians before opting to head east and join the reigning Hyundai A-League Champions.
