After securing the NPL2 U/20’s Premiership and the NPL2 senior Club Championship last weekend, Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo’s NPL1 1st Grade side will take on Bonnyrigg for the NPL2 Premiership this Sunday at Pluim Park.
A win for NWS Spirit in the U/20’s against Northern Tigers ensured that our boys can’t be caught in the final round, while a draw between the senior teams from those clubs and a win for Bonnyrigg has set up a monster final round with four clubs in contention for top spot.
The Mariners lead the table with 20 points, closely followed by Bonnyrigg and Spirit on 19 points and Tigers back on 17 points but within striking distance from fourth.
Monty’s team have an exceptional record at Pluim this season, winning all four of their outings at the ground and scoring 20 goals while only conceding seven across those matches.
Matthew Cahill continues to blaze a trail at the summit of the Golden Boot standings with nine goals and teammate Damian Tsekenis close behind with seven, and he could seal that this weekend with a goal.
The two teams will know on Sunday what the situation is for them with Spirit and Tigers in action on Saturday night and the stakes will be high even without the promise of promotion this season.
Montgomery will welcome back Jordan Smylie, Brad Tapp and Matt Hatch to the selection table after they missed time through injury, with last week’s bye round proving valuable for fitness and squad numbers heading into the pointy end of the season.

Finals will begin next weekend, with both our Men’s and Women’s sides in action.
