NPL Wrap: Men remain undefeated

The Central Coast Mariners Academy men’s & women’s teams were in action over the Easter long weekend away from home with the men drawing 1-1 with Macarthur Rams and the women losing 2-1 to SD Raiders.

In the PS4 NPL 2 competition, our men faced a challenging away fixture to the Macarthur Rams where they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw on Good Friday.

After conceding just before half time and going into the break with a one-goal-deficit, the young Mariners were forced to show character in the second half.

Then, in the 52nd minute, Emmanuel Peters played creator when he slotted a precision ball to Matias Paz who still had a lot to do. Paz steadied himself and fired home to earn a crucial point.

After four games played, the Mariners remain undefeated with two wins and two draws to their name. This Saturday night the Mariners travel again to take on Gladesville Spirit at Christie Park. Kick-off is 7pm.

  • U18’s WON 5-1
  • U20’s WON 4-3

The Mariners Academy Women also came into the fixture undefeated for a challenge that Head Coach Dan Barrett labelled as their toughest challenge of the season so far.

They faced the SD Raiders away from home on Easter Monday and it was the home team who fired first with a goal in the 23rd minute.

Our girls would not be deterred by the Raiders’ goal and responded almost immediately with a goal of their own just five minutes later to Jordan Evans.

In a tight affair with both sides trying to get a foot hold, SD Raiders found their winner in the 76th minute to deliver the Mariners Academy Women their first loss of the season.

This Sunday the Mariners Academy host the Western NSW Mariners FC at the International Football School. Kick-off is 3pm and entry is FREE!

With three games to their name, the women now have two wins and a loss to their name.
