In a mixed run of results for the Mariners Academy, Nick Montgomery’s men’s team have earned a 1-1 draw away from home whilst our women’s team had two players sent off in their 5-2 loss to ladder-leaders APIA Leichhardt.
Macarthur Rams 1 (Onana Awono) Central Coast Mariners Academy 1 (Katsoulis)
Macarthur recorded their third draw in four weeks against a Central Coast side missing a few of their more experienced players for a tough Saturday night trip to Lynwood Park.
It was the Rams who drew first blood just before halftime. The move came down the right side, Michael Stojanovski played a cross into the middle and Sam Onana Awono finishing well.
However, the sides would go into the break level after Michael Katsoulis got behind the Macarthur backline, beating the goalkeeper to the ball and finding the net.
The game was up for grabs in the second half. Central Coast played some good football, and the Rams hit the woodwork, but neither side was able to find a winner.

Central Coast Mariners Academy Women 2 (Wise & Collins) APIA Leichhardt Tigers 5 (Bridges x 3, Ryan & Bisset)
The Central Coast Mariners Academy were off to a flying start in their home game against APIA Leichhardt when Danielle Wise bagged her 24th goal of the season to put her side 1-0 up after just 10 mintues. The Mariners were forced to finish the match with nine players after both Drysdale & Miller were shown red cards.
However, the drama that followed delivered one of the craziest games of the season against first-placed-Leichhardt.
The first half was the slow burn as Danielle Wise opened the scoring for the Mariners before APIA defender Jennifer Bissett leveled. Georgia Bridges handed APIA the lead before a late strike from Nina Collins for the home side ensured it was 2-2 at half time.
Bridges completed her hat-trick in the second half before Kerrie Ryan put the icing on the cake with their fifth goal.
The game was brought to an extended halt when APIA attacker Logan Garard suffered a season-ending injury. Everyone at the Mariners wishes her the best in her recovery.
