Dan Barrett’s Central Coast Mariners Academy women’s team earned a gutsy come from behind 2-1 win over SD Raiders to seal their place in the NPL 2 Grand Final along with the women’s 17’s and 15’s. All THREE of our senior men’s teams kick-off their finals football campaigns next week with the 18’s & 20’s crowned Minor Premiers and the first grade boys finishing in fourth place.

Central Coast Mariners Academy Women 2 (Eyers & Snape) SD Raiders Women 1

What a season for the female Mariners Academy program. Three teams are through to the Grand Final!

After conceding within the first minute of play it was always going to be an uphill battle for Dan Barrett’s girls.

Although the Yellow & Navy finished ahead of the SD Raiders on the league ladder they were yet to beat them this season, until now.

Down 1-0, Hayley Eyers levelled proceedings in the 15th minute. Both teams remained on even terms at the half time break.

With both sides trying to get the edge over their opponent it was one of the club’s up and coming stars that bagged the ultimate winner. 15-year-old Iona Snape fired home in the 54th minute to see her team through to a Grand Final.

The successful weekend caps off an incredible season for our women’s academy program and we wish all three teams the best of luck in their Grand Final battles next weekend.
