Central Coast Mariners had five former players involved in action for the Socceroos in Australia-s opening FIFA World Cup clash with Chile in Brazil on Saturday morning.

Jupiler Pro League Goalkeeper of the Year Mathew Ryan, Crystal Palace and Australia skipper Mile Jedinak and Jeonbuk Hyundai defender Alex Wilkinson all featured in Ange Postecoglou-s starting line-up against Jorge Sampaoli-s side.

The Socceroos recovered from a disappointing start to push Chile to the limit with a brilliant comeback in the second stanza, but it just wasn-t quite enough as they suffered a 3-1 loss in Cuiaba.

FC Luzern-s Oliver Bozanic and FK Austria Wien-s James Holland remained on the bench for the Socceroos, however both can perhaps see game time when Australia face Netherlands on Thursday.
