Central Coast Mariners Youth suffered a 2-1 defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers Youth in their Foxtel National Youth League round six encounter on Sunday.
The mini Mariners’ only goal of the game was scored by Hyundai A-League squad member Anthony Kalik when the score was 2-0 to the junior red and blacks.
Down 1-0 at half time, the Mariners fell 2-0 to Wanderers just after the break.
Mariners Youth Head Coach Stu Jacobs readjusted his side’s tactics thereafter, and his players began to gain more control of the game as well as create a number of opportunities to score.
Kalik cut in from the right to net to make the score 2-1, while Josh Bingham was also influential in the front third throughout the game.Â
Central Coast Mariners will seek to secure their second win of the season this Saturday when they play Newcastle Jets Youth at Rockwell Automation Park in Weston.
Kick-off against the junior Jets is at 11:00am.Â
