The Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce that Miguel Di Pizio has officially signed a scholarship deal with the club.
The 17-year-old first joined the Mariners during the 2023 NPL pre-season, arriving on the Central Coast from Western Sydney Wanderers. Since then, the youngster has become a main stay of the club’s Men’s Academy program, first beginning in the under 20’s squad.
After playing with that side during the early part of the season, Di Pizio moved up into the first-grade squad, making his NPL first grade debut in round six against Sydney FC.
Since then, he has been a staple of the side, starting every match. The youngster has also been training with the Mariners A-League Men’s squad, gaining valuable experience.
Di Pizio is an Australian Youth international, having previously captained the Australia Under 17’s Joey’s side. He has recently been called up for a 30-man training camp next week, in preparation for the U17 Asian Cup which will take place in Thailand.
The young Mariner has already attracted interest from club’s worldwide, with Montgomery pleased to have signed Di Pizio on a scholarship deal.
“Miguel is an exciting young player who can play anywhere across the front. He is physically competing at first grade level as well as holding his own when training with the A-League squad,” Montgomery said.
“I have been really impressed with this for a player of his age. I have no doubt that he has a massive future ahead of him if he keeps his feet on the ground, continues to work hard and stays humble.”
