McGlinchey to take on Mexico

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Michael McGlinchey played the full 90 minutes for New Zealand’s National Team in an international friendly against Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain yesterday.

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Michael McGlinchey played the full 90 minutes for New Zealand-s National Team in an international friendly against Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain yesterday.

McGlinchey and his All Whites teammates drew 0-0 with the Soca Warriors as they continued their preparations for their home-and-away 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff – now confirmed to be against Mexico – in November.

Mexico suffered a 2-1 defeat by Costa Rica in San Jose yesterday, though a pair of late goals from the USA ensured a 3-2 win over Panama, which means the All Whites will face Mexico at the impressive Estadio Azteca on November 13. The return leg will take place a week later in Wellington, with a sold out crowd anticipated in the Kiwi capital.

McGlinchey is currently returning to Australia from Central America.
