In a goal fest at Tuggerah, the Central Coast Mariners Youth team have come out 7-2 victors over the Western Sydney Wanderers Youth team in today’s Foxtel National Youth League fixture.

The highlight of the afternoon was a Ryan Peterson hat-trick, while Dan Heffernan, Trent Buhagiar, Steve Whyte and sub Dan McFarlane also joined in the fun with goals of their own.

It was a game where everything went the Mariners way, with Peterson opening the scoring in the 24th minute from the spot after a foul by the Wanderers in the box.

From there, the Mariners avalanche continued, scoring two extra goals in the opening half through Dan Heffernan and Trent Buhagiar, before the Wanderers managed their first through Charles Abou Serhal, which gave them a slight whiff of confidence going into the break at 3-1.

That didn’t last long, with Steve Whyte getting on the end of a measured lob and striking in the 48th minute to give the Mariners a strong 4-1 lead.

While Mario Shabow netted in the 59th minute, the Mariners had no intentions of taking their foot off the gas in the final thirty minutes with three goals to finish the game.

Two of those were through Ryan Peterson who finished his hat-trick with a header and then a fiery strike, with sub Daniel McFarlane scoring a beautiful goal in between off a dash down the park.

The win moves the Mariners to six points on the Conference B table, with their next clash away against the FFA Centre of Excellence.
