After a couple of weeks at home, our Central Coast Mariners Ninja A-League team are back on the road, travelling to the Nation’s Capital to take on Canberra United.
The Mariners come into the game off the back of an emphatic 5-1 win over Newcastle Jets last week, as we lifted the F3 Derby in front of our home supporters.
In fact it has been a brilliant month of football for our Ninja A-League squad, winning three of our last four, while drawing the other, and conceding only two goals.
Sitting just a point outside the top six, Canberra will be a challenge on Saturday afternoon, with a win for the hosts enough to propel them above us and into fifth position.

Previously against Canberra
Canberra have been the Mariners favourite opponent since our return to the competition with three wins from our three meetings, including a 4-1 win at Our Paradise last season, which before last weekend’s F3 Derby win, was our biggest win under Husband.
Earlier this season, an inspired double substitution from Husband proved to be the difference as Tiana Fuller and Shadeene Evans both scored within ten minutes of coming on the field, to turn the game around.
Our last trip to the Capital, in Round Nine last season, saw a Wurigumula brace, including a stunning long range strike, before Peta Trimis netted her first professional goal to seal a 3-0 win.
Canberra United
Canberra United have been on a strong run of form of late, losing just once in their last seven matches, that being their cancelled match against Sydney FC which would later be awarded as a defeat. These results have propelled them within touching distance of the top six, sitting just one point outside the finals positions.
While goalscoring has been a challenge for them at times this season, finding the back of the net the fourth least of any team, their defensive record has been strong. They currently sit equal fifth best in the league for least amount of goals conceded, keeping a clean sheet in two of their last three matches.
Michelle Heyman is once again their leading goalscorer this season, currently with five, while Maja Markovski sits second with three including her long range effort against us last time out.
Midfielder Emma Robers and defender Elizabeth Anton have been two of their other best this campaign, both of whom will present a challenge for your Mariners this afternoon.
Bianca Galic
Fresh off scoring her third goal of the Ninja A-League season in our 5-1 demolition of Newcastle, Bianca speaks about our recent form, how tough a trip to Canberra can be and our league leading defensive record this season.
Emily Husband
Our Head Coach speaks on a pleasing result against our F3 Derby rivals, our goalscoring form in recent weeks and how she believes the team is building as we head towards the final stages of the regular season.
