Central Coast Mariners will throw its support behind Surf Life Saving Central Coast this Friday when the Club hosts Wellington Phoenix on the banks of the Brisbane Water.
Central Coast Mariners will throw its support behind Surf Life Saving Central Coast this Friday when the Club hosts Wellington Phoenix on the banks of the Brisbane Water.
The Hyundai A-League 2013/14 round 20 clash pits the fifth placed Mariners up against the seventh placed Phoenix, with the game important to both team-s finals aspirations.
While there is sure to be plenty of action on the pitch as Phil Moss-s men aim to tame Ernie Merrick-s ‘Nix, the Mariners- association with Surf Life Saving Central Coast will also be recognised in and around the Stadium.
There are 15 Surf Life Saving Clubs on the Central Coast, and over 9,000 local people aged five and up are registered to one of these crucial community Clubs.
The efforts and dedication of the army of red and yellow volunteers ensures that Central Coast beaches are amongst the safest in the world.
At the game five local Surf Life Saving Clubs – The Lakes, The Entrance, North Avoca, Copacabana, and Macmasters Beach – will take part in a half time relay race, while several Clubs will be taking donations at the gates.
All money raised will go direct to purchasing new rescue gear, equipment, and first aid supplies, surf lifesaver training, and surf safety community education programs on the Coast.
Meanwhile, a young, local Surf Life Saving member will get to toss the coin just before the clash between the Mariners and the Phoenix.
Fans are encouraged to team their favourite Mariners merchandise with a pair of boardies on game day to support the Club-s Surf Life Saving initiative.
Don’t miss Harvey Norman Friday Night Football this week when the Mariners aim to return to the winner-s list against Wellington. The game is also set to mark Korean Kim Seung-yong’s first in the yellow and navy at home for the Club.
