Mariners sign young forward Max Naylor

Central Coast Mariners are pleased to confirm the signing of exciting young forward Max Naylor ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2026/27 season.

The 18-year-old joins the Mariners after departing Perth Glory, where he progressed through the club’s academy system, and arrives on the Central Coast as another promising young talent to strengthen the club’s squad for the season ahead.

Naylor has also impressed on the international stage with Australia, previously representing the Subway Joeys alongside his new Mariners teammate Jai Ajanovic.

Naylor’s arrival further reflects the club’s commitment to identifying and developing the next generation of Australian footballers, providing talented young players with the opportunity to establish themselves at senior level.

After signing with the Mariners, Naylor said he was excited to begin the next chapter of his career.

“I’m super excited to join the Mariners. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and for trust that the club put in me.” Naylor said.

“I have a strong belief about the direction the club is going and what we want to achieve as a collective. I think the club has a good vision in giving young players the opportunities to compete and show what they can do.

“So far it has been a super easy transition moving to the Coast and joining the club. Everyone has been really welcoming and the staff have been great in doing their best to make sure I settle in.

“It’s a really easy group of players to get along with, all players have been super friendly and supportive and there is a really good vibe in the dressing room.

“The upcoming season is really exciting, there is a really good feeling amongst the squad that we can achieve big things this year. Individually, I just want to work hard and take every opportunity that is presented to help the team.

Sporting Director Matt Simon said Naylor is another player who fits the club’s long-term recruitment strategy.

“Max is an exciting young attacking player with a lot of potential, and we’re delighted to welcome him to the Mariners,” Simon said.

“He’s shown his quality in WA and with Australia’s youth teams, and we believe the Mariners is the best environment for him to continue his development.

“Max fits exactly into our footballing strategy – to recruit, develop, and give opportunities to talented young players – and he has the right work ethic and ambition to improve every day, so we’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in his career while contributing to the success of the Mariners.”
