The Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce the signing of versatile Brazilian defender Mikael Doka on a multi season deal.
Doka arrives at the club after departing Brazilian giants Santos, having been a part of their set up since joining them as a 10-year-old.
Currently 23-years-old, the wing-back is quick and technical while also being a dead ball specialist, having the capability to play as a winger.
After signing his first professional contract, a three-season deal with Santos, the Brazilian later extended with the club for a further two seasons before going out on loan.
He has spent the past two campaigns with FC Cascavel and Sao Joseense in Brazil, scoring 5 goals to date in 2023. The defender adds versatility and strike power to the Mariners squad for the 2023/24 season.
Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Nick Montgomery is pleased to have secured the Brazilian’s signature, seeing the 23-year-old as an incredibly valuable member of the squad.
“Doka is a player that we have been tracking for a while. He is a versatile young player who can play either as an attacking fullback or a winger which adds good flexibility to the squad,” Montgomery said.
“It’s always a good sign when a player has spent a long time at one club and Santos are a fantastic club with a lot of history.
“He is fast and aggressive with a fine set piece delivery, and we are really happy to bring him to the club. He is very excited for the opportunity to experience playing in the A-League.”
Doka is thrilled to have signed with the Mariners, the Brazilian eager to get started with the club.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to play for the Central Coast Mariners. It is a club that has been growing more and more and are the current Champions of the country,” Doka said.
“I’m living a dream coming here and I hope to help the team to be champions again this year.”
