Mariners sign promising young defender Noah McCann

Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce the signing of 20-year-old Scotland youth international defender Noah McCann, ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2026/27 season.

The promising left-footed centre-back joins the Mariners as a free agent, subject to international clearance and visa approval, after spending over ten years in the Queens Park Rangers Academy.

McCann has represented Scotland at U20 level, and has gained valuable experience in senior football through a number of loans in the English football pyramid, most recently in the sixth tier with Tonbridge Angels where he played 15 times in the second half of the 2025/26 season.

Widely praised for his professionalism, attitude and resilience, McCann overcame a serious injury before signing his first professional contract with QPR in 2025. He now joins the Mariners as another exciting young player in line with the club’s commitment to developing emerging talent.

After signing with the Mariners, McCann spoke about being welcomed into the Mariners family and his aims for the season ahead.

“I am delighted to be joining the Mariners, and grateful for the opportunity.”

“I can’t wait to meet the fans and make memories for both myself and the club.

“I’ve been in Australia for a couple of weeks now, I’ve got to know the players and staff well and feel welcomed into the Mariners family.

“This season, I’d love to individually gain as much experience in the A-League as possible with game time. This is a new challenge for me that I’m excited to begin.”

“As a team the aim is to be as competitive, make our fans proud and bring success to celebrate together.”

Sporting Director Matt Simon believes McCann is another promising addition to the Mariners:

“Noah is another promising young player that we are excited to bring to the Mariners.”

“His experiences in England, combined with representing Scotland at youth level, have given him a strong foundation despite his young age.

“Just as importantly, he’s shown great resilience to overcome adversity early in his career. He is a great character and has the mentality we want in our players at the Mariners.

We believe Noah has all the attributes to continue developing into an excellent player, and we’re excited to help him take the next step in a Mariners shirt.”
