Mariners partner with Coastal Twist Festival for Pride Celebration

The Central Coast Mariners are teaming up with the Coastal Twist Festival on Friday night at Industree Group Stadium for our first Pride Celebration.

Taking place in the lead up and during our match against Wellington Phoenix at Our Paradise, the celebrations will include a special pre-game performance, with the aim to make our stadium inclusive and welcoming for all.

Festival Director Glitta Supernova is pleased to be working with the Mariners this Friday night at Our Paradise, keen to see the merging of sport and art.

“It is so exciting when sports and arts collide. The Central Coast’s leading arts and diversity festival joining forces with the iconic Central Coast Mariners to lead social change is just gorgeous,” Supernova said.

“Traditionally sports have connotations of being an unsafe space. I think working together with the Mariners for a more welcoming Central Coast really breaks down stigma and that is a great thing for the whole community.”

The match will have activations and activities throughout the night, headlined by a special pre-game performance. The game marking the first event in a massive weekend for the Coastal Twist Festival.

“We are very excited to be pushing forward one of our amazing local performers Miss Tree who is a beautiful musician and multi-artist. She will be singing live at the stadium, and I will also be doing the coin flip,” she said.

“Kicking off with the Mariners, then straight over to load up the Mardi Gras truck and send it over to Sydney, before we host a free community viewing party in Ettalong Beach at the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus.”

Mariners CEO Shaun Mielekamp is excited to be working together with the Coastal Twist Festival, eager to support the community.

“It is important because we are the community club, and this is a big part of our community. For us to get behind something that our community is also behind is a bit of a no-brainer,” he said.

“We get to welcome everybody on a Friday night to Our Paradise and this Friday night will be Our Paradise with a twist. It is about being welcoming and making sure that we get that messaging out there, expressing our support for the LGBTQI+ community.”

Be sure to be at Industree Group Stadium to watch us face off against Wellington Phoenix on Friday night in our special Pride Celebration match.
