The Central Coast Mariners will host Gold Coast United in a Hyundai A-League 2011 Grand Final qualifier at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday night, after Gold Coast edged past Adelaide United 3-2 in an energy sapping Elimination Final at Hindmarsh Stadium tonight.
The Mariners won the right to host the Preliminary Final following last night-s 2-all draw with Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium, and the winner of Saturday-s blockbuster will move through to the Grand Final to face the Roar back at Suncorp on Sunday, 13 March at 4:00pm QST (5:00pm AEDT).
After over 10-thousand Members and supporters were on hand to watch the first leg of the Mariners Major Semi Final tie with Brisbane last week, it-s hoped many more will be at Bluetongue this Saturday night to help the Mariners into what would be their third Grand Final in six seasons.
āIt-s a massive game next week, another shot at the Champions League which would be great for the club. We had a great crowd there last week at Bluetongue and hopefully we can build on that and get a few thousand more through the gates, because it-s going to be a massive, massive game for us, and the more people we can get to Bluetongue the better,ā said Mariners captain Alex Wilkinson.
The Mariners will take heart from the last meeting between the two sides, which saw the Yellow and Navy run out 3-1 winners at Skilled Park less than a month ago, following goals to Bernie Ibini-Isei, Mustafa Amini and Mitchell Duke.
