Mariners E-League Wrap Week 3

Another week of E-League action has come and gone, with Lachy taking part in matchday five on Tuesday afternoon.

Unfortunately, Brady’s matchday was postponed due to issues with the FIFA 23 servers, with his two games to be played at a later date.

Facing Boom FC of Perth Glory, Lachlan Neal came into the match with confidence. After going 1-0 up early, the youngster defended for his life to preserve the lead.

His ‘Won’t Back Down’ attitude was on full display throughout, with only a FIFA error gifting his opponent the equalising goal. The first leg ending 1-all with the tie firmly up for grabs.

Three quick goals to begin the second match from his opponent automatically put Lachy on the back foot, needing a sensational comeback to secure the victory.

Neal was able to wrestle the momentum back, scoring twice to leave him just a goal down with 20 minutes to play.

He had a final chance to draw level, with his striker missing an open goal with an air swing. The tie ending in a valiant 4-3 defeat.

Neal’s second match was an even greater challenge, with the youngster scheduled to come up against the current number one player in Australia Mark11.

After conceding twice early, Lachy got one back on the stroke of half time. After a tense second 45 minutes no further goals were scored, with Neal down 2-1 heading into the second leg.

A goal apiece in the first half of the second match had the tie firmly in the balance at 4-2, before four quick goals saw it end 8-2.

Despite losing both matches, the youngster is keen to learn from the experience and was pleased with how he performed. Lachy and Brady will be back next week, as they continue in the 2023 E-League competition.
