The Central Coast Mariners can confirm the departure of A-League Championship winning goalkeeper Yaren Sözer from the club.
The 26-year-old leaves the Central Coast Mariners at the conclusion of his current contract following two seasons on the Coast, being a part of our 2022/23 Championship winning squad.
Sözer has made a positive impact on the team since arriving, being a much-loved figure in the locker room and around the club.
Central Coast Mariners head coach Nick Montgomery is thankful for Sözer’s contributions during his time at the club, wishing him the best for the future.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to Yaren for his ultimate professionalism and support during his time at the club. After discussion with Yaren, we feel it’s an opportunity for him to move on and he is at an age where he wants to be a number one goalkeeper and we feel that now is the time for him to follow that,” he said.
“I want to thank him on behalf of myself and the club for helping us achieve success over the last two seasons and I wish him nothing but success moving forward in his career.”
Sporting Director Matt Simon echoed Montgomery’s comments, thanking Sözer for his contributions and time at the club.
“Yaren has been an important part of our Championship winning squad and has helped us achieve what we have as a club over the past two seasons,” he said.
“I wish him nothing but the very best in all of his future endeavours and thank him for his contributions at the Mariners.”
