Mariners Academy: Winning weekend across grades

Mariners Academy: Winning weekend across grades

A strong weekend of results across the Women’s program was topped off by a win for first grade on the weekend as Dan Barrett’s side moved back to the cusp of the top four.

A narrow loss in U/14’s was the only one against South East Phoenix, with big wins in the other four grades amounting to a 21-1 aggregate performance across the day.

In first grade, Emily Diaz and Annalise Rasmussen did the damage at Pluim Park, with Rasmussen opening the scoring eight minutes in before alternating with Diaz as the latter went on to finish with a hat trick and Rasmussen scored a second to round out the 5-1.

The win puts the team just two points behind SD Raiders for fourth spot with a trip to eighth placed Gladesville Ravens on the cards this weekend.

In the Men’s action, Jing Reec put Nick Montgomery’s team ahead just after the half hour mark against Bonnyrigg, but it was all square 12 minutes into the second half when the hosts hit back.

In U/20’s Zac Barbatano and Lachlan Bayliss struck in a 2-0 win that sees the Mariners sitting in fourth spot, just two points off top, after 11 rounds.
