The Central Coast Mariners Academy Boys, Girls and Senior womens teams start their official 2012 Season this weekend.
On Saturday 17 March, the Mariners Academy welcomes teams from Dulwich Hill in Round 1 of the Football New South Wales Boys Super Youth League. The Central Coast have boys teams entered in the Grade 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 divisions of the competition.
2011 saw the Grade 14 boys win the Grand Final with the Coast boys tussling to the final round to secure the overall FNSW Super Youth League Club Championship. Although missing out on the club championship in Season 2011, the players have stepped up to training three nights per week for 2012 and have shown some great results across all age groups in pre-season trial games against teams from Mounties, Bankstown City, FNSW Skillaroos, Northern Tigers and the Northern NSW Institute of Sport.
Kick offs for the boys are from 9am at Pluim Park, Lisarow with the final game of the day (Grade 18 Boys) kicking off at 3pm.
The Boys Skills Acquisition Grade 9 and 10 teams are on the road to the Illawarra. After home games at Pluim last week in Round 1, the boys will be keen to show Illawarra Branch their skills and ability in this newly developed program.
On Sunday 18 March, the Girls and Womens Academy teams are also on the road and play Illawarra – this time the Illawarra Stingrays at Wollongong. The Senior Women-s first grade team take on last year-s premier winning team from the Wollongong area with the Mariners Women’s new training and fitness programs being put to the test from Round 1. The games are being played at JJ Kelly Park with kick offs from 9am for the Grade 12 girls through to 3pm for the First Grade Women.
