Jake Banks is one of our biggest supporters and we are happy to announce that he has been appointed as the Mariners’ Media Liaison Officer that includes a regular column in our match day programme – The Loose Cannon. Here is his first instalment.
I am Jake and would like to tell you a bit more about why I’m doing this article. A long time ago I sat down with Shaun (Mariners CEO) to talk about the possibility of getting involved as a volunteer.
I have been involved with the Club for a number of years and have been offered a role as the Media Liaison Officer, which enables me to write for The Loose Cannon.
So, welcome to the first edition of Banksy’s Bulletin. I am so excited about this season, we have new management/coaching staff and with Tony & Hutch calling the shots now it’s given the club a new direction. The negative vibes are gone, we have new players and I’m really positive about the future of our club. Shaun said to me that I know more about the club than most people he has ever known and this role is massive for me, a dream come true!
My role is not only writing this article it is so much more because I get to go to training sessions, be involved with off-field discussions and be included in meetings about game play and team motivation.

My job also includes motivational speaking as well as being a voice for the supporters and players.
I don’t just go to the games to watch, I want to be a part of this fantastic club. Every time I am part of this team I have to pinch myself to believe that it’s real life because it’s what I’m passionate about. Every time I think about the club and our supporters it makes me feel very emotional and I’m so proud to be a part of this great organisation.
I look forward to working with the players, management and supporters this season and if you have any questions that I can pass on, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
