Players and staff from the Central Coast Mariners were treated to an afternoon of Indonesian warmth and hospitality on Wednesday, with the Club invited to a traditional barbecue with the management, staff and players from local powerhouse Persib Bandung.

The Mariners and Persib played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the final 2013 Menpora Cup Group A game on Tuesday at Stadion Si Jalak Harupat, however on Wednesday the Clubs combined to forge new friendships off the pitch.

Persib Manager Mr Umuh Muchtar hosted the function at his home on the outskirts of Bandung, and generously gifted each of Central Coast-s players with their own Persib shirt.

Central Coast Mariners Captain, John Hutchinson, presented Mr Muchtar with a signed jersey from the reigning Hyundai A-League Champions.

While the afternoon came complete with food and a band singing an array of Indonesian tunes, it was Argentine ace Marcos Flores who grabbed the attention and hearts of the locals with a rousing rendition of Ritchie Valens- ‘La Bamba-.

New recruits at the Mariners are required to sing a song on an away trip, and Flores set a new benchmark for all future signings with an effort that had some of Persib-s players – including Indonesian international Hariono – on their feet.
