Mariners super-fan Jake Banks has taken up a role with the club’s football department, helping the coaching staff out with video analysis ahead of Hyundai A-League matchdays.

‘Banksy’, as he is affectionately known, helps out Video Analyst Nick Haworth twice a week and on gamedays looking at vision of upcoming opposition to determine where the Mariners can gain an advantage.

“I help analyse both teams, mainly the opposition though to help Staj and Nas to put together the game plan,” Banks said.

“The Players ask me what I think about certain situations and where they can improve, and I’m really looking forward to getting more involved with the football department.”

“This role has always been a dream of mine, I have been a part of this club since they were founded and to be recognised and doing video work is really great.”

“I’m really enjoying working alongside the coaching staff and I am certainly looking forward to the season beginning.”

Haworth said it was great to have Banks on board to help out heading into games.

“It has been really good to have Jake on board, helping with the video work so far,” Haworth said.

“We’re asking him to prepare a scouting report on the opposition each week to help inform our decisions heading into that game, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table for us.”
