Bathurst-s Macquarie United FC were the beneficiaries of the Central Coast Mariners- ruthless streak in front of goal against the Perth Glory last Friday, having been selected by Hyundai as the winners of the Hyundai ‘Goals for Grassroots- program.
Already a proud supporter and sponsor of the Socceroos and naming rights sponsor of the Hyundai A-League, Hyundai is committed to investing in grassroots football within local communities around Australia through its ‘Goals for Grassroots- program.
For last Friday-s match, Hyundai nominated Macquarie United FC, with the Mariners- 4-1 triumph ensuring that the Bathurst club received the maximum possible earnings from the ‘Goals for Grassroots- program – $5,000, which consists of an initial $1,000 prize in addition to $1,000 for each goal the Mariners scored that evening.
“Coming from a rural area it is hard to secure the funding we need to give our members the best facilities and equipment and this donation from Hyundai will allow us to build our club and offer more ensuring our future is going in the right direction,” said Macquarie United FC representative Geoff Rankin.
One home game per round of the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season has been selected to be part of the ‘Goals for Grassroots- program.
To be considered for a donation ahead of each home match, local football clubs need to complete an application form on-line at www.ilovefootball.com.au and submit why their club should receive support.
Grassroots clubs selected will benefit from an initial $1,000 donation from Hyundai Motor Company Australia and an additional $1,000 per goal scored by the home team that nominated them (up to $5,000 total).
To be eligible to enter, local clubs must belong to an association affiliated to Football Federation Australia – the remaining Hyundai A-League 2008/09 fixtures at Bluetongue Stadium to feature the ‘Goals for Grassroots- program will be against the Queensland Roar on 6 December and against the Perth Glory on New Year-s Eve.
“These clubs and their members are part of the future for football in Australia and the Hyundai ‘Goals for Grassroots- program is a great way to ensure that the future is being looked after, even beyond the Central Coast region,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
“We look forward to working with Hyundai Motor Group Australia throughout the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season and providing more opportunities for grassroots clubs to benefit from this fantastic initiative.”
