FROM JAMAICA TO THE CENTRAL COAST: DANIEL SCARLETT JOINS THE MARINERS

The Central Coast Mariners announce the signing of exciting Jamaican youngster Daniel Scarlett, with the 18-year-old making the move to the Central Coast for the next chapter of his football career.

Scarlett arrives in Australia from Jamaican Premier League side Chapelton Maroons, having already been exposed to senior football in his home country at a young age.

The Jamaican has also developed through the Phoenix Academy system and played schoolboy football with the highly regarded Wolmer’s Boys’ School, where he demonstrated his versatility and attacking ability.

Scarlett has attracted attention for his athleticism, pace and ability to impact the game in multiple areas of the pitch.

His signing also represents the Mariners’ continued commitment to identifying talented young footballers with the potential to develop within the club’s environment.

For Scarlett, the move means leaving Jamaica and relocating to Australia to pursue an opportunity in professional football – a challenge Mariners Sporting Director Matt Simon believes says plenty about the youngster’s ambition.

“Daniel is a really exciting young player, he has shown a lot of courage and ambition to take this opportunity.

“Moving to the other side of the world at 18 is a big commitment. It tells you that he wants to challenge himself, he wants to learn and he is serious about seeing where his football can take him.

“He has some really interesting attributes. He is athletic, quick and confident, and he has already had experience playing senior football in Jamaica.

“Our job now is to help him settle into a completely new environment, work with him every day and give him the tools to continue developing.

“We’re excited to welcome Daniel to the Central Coast and to see where he can take his game.”

Scarlett said the opportunity to move to Australia and join the Mariners was one he was determined to embrace.

“This is a huge moment for me and my family and I’m really proud to be joining the Central Coast Mariners.

“Leaving Jamaica and coming to Australia is a big move, but this is the kind of opportunity I have been working towards. I want to test myself, experience a different style of football and become the best player I can be.

“I know I have a lot to learn and I’m coming here ready to work. I want to listen to the coaches, learn from the players around me and show what I can bring to the team.

“I’m grateful to everyone back home who has helped me get to this point, and now I’m excited to get started and call the Central Coast home.”

Scarlett will now settle into life on the Central Coast and begin training with the Mariners as preparations continue for the 2026/27 season.

Welcome to the Mariners, Daniel.
