It’s that time of the year. Our first #F3Derby of the season that will see the Newcastle Jets travel to Central Coast Stadium. Kick-off on Sunday is 5pm.
Like any #F3Derby in the past, both teams will be desperate for a win. It’s the 45th edition and the winner will claim a narrow edge.

Across the 44 previous meetings both teams have managed 14 wins, 14 losses and 16 draws. The winner this Sunday will gain the historical bragging rights.
In more recent times with the current squads, both teams will also be eager to bounce back from their losses last week. The Mariners fell to Wellington away from home whilst the Jets suffered a home loss to Perth Glory.
Regardless of ladder position, there’s no atmosphere like a derby and we can’t wait to see Central Coast Stadium come to life on Sunday afternoon.
"It's the main point of this week, to make sure the boys understand this fixture has got history about it."

Mulvey in the media
Their opponents, the Newcastle Jets…
“They had a great season last season, so they should set lofty standards. They haven’t quite hit their straps as much as they would have hoped but it’s a derby. Newcastle are coming to our stadium and we need to get points on the board. We’re going to have a go and give our fans something to cheer about leading into Christmas.
The fire of the #F3Derby…
“We want to kick start our season. The confidence needs to be boosted by a good performance and three points that’s up for grabs.
“They are quite a settled team from last season who have been together for a while and we’re trying to find our feet and it will be great if we can do that on Sunday.
Jonathan Aspropotamitis update…
“Jonathan is a project in motion. We will more than likely give him another 90 minutes in the Youth League tomorrow.
The master and the apprentice. Simon & @Jmuzza23.
“He’s a true captain, he’s definitely someone I look up to.”

Mood in the camp…
“A derby means a lot to a lot of people, but there’s no doubt you can sense a bit of tension in the air. Simply because we recognise where we are right now and where we want to get to. There’s been lots of discussion this week, we just need to make sure that we have a squad of players who are ready to go on Sunday. Giving their all, so at the end of the game our fans can say “you know what they gave everything today”,” Mulvey said.
This Sunday we host our fierce rivals, the @NewcastleJetsFC. You can bring the whole family for just . Believe, belong, BE THERE! ? https://t.co/tPcD6zu1QN pic.twitter.com/Av8dylX802
