THE 2012/13 campaign marks the 8th season of the Hyundai A-League.

THE 2012/13 campaign marks the 8th season of the Hyundai A-League.

Since the commencement of Australia-s new professional football league, the Mariners have achieved two Hyundai A-League Premierships, three Grand Final appearances, qualified for the AFC Champions League three times and competed in the end of season Finals Series on five occasions.

Graham Arnold has been Head Coach of the Mariners for the last two Hyundai A-League seasons.

During Arnold-s reign the Mariners have been – alongside Brisbane Roar – the most consistent side in Australia-s top flight.

The Mariners finished the 2010/11 season in second place and met the Roar in the major semi-final which they lost 4-2 on aggregate.

The Preliminary Final resulted in a 1-0 win for the Mariners, ensuring a passage to the Club-s third Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

Sadly, the Mariners were defeated 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out after leading 2-0 with three minutes of extra time left to play.

The 2011/12 season was a successful one for Central Coast as they won their second league title before bowing out in the preliminary final in another shoot-out, this time against Perth Glory.

The Mariners success has come on the back of stability throughout the Club.

Entering their eighth season, the Mariners have had only two coaches. This is a remarkable statistic when compared with rival Clubs, many of whom have had two coaches in a single campaign!

A lot has changed in the last year of the Hyundai A-League with the removal of Gold Coast United from the competition and the introduction of the newly founded Western Sydney Wanderers.

Ten teams will compete in season 8 of the Hyundai A-League.

Like last season there will be 27 rounds with all teams playing one other on three occasions.

The Mariners begin their defence of the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League Premiership against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Parramatta Stadium in just 8 days time.
