20 is symbolic for Central Coast Mariners defender Trent Sainsbury for two reasons. Firstly, it’s his current age. But secondly, it’s the number of Hyundai A-League games the former Qantas Young Socceroo has played for the yellow and navy in his career thus far.
20 is symbolic for Central Coast Mariners defender Trent Sainsbury for two reasons. Firstly, it-s his current age. But secondly, it-s the number of Hyundai A-League games the former Qantas Young Socceroo has played for the yellow and navy in his career thus far.
Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Sainsbury played in Glory-s inaugural National Youth League campaign before linking with the Australian Institute of Sport program. Establishing himself as an imposing central defender, Sainsbury joined the Mariners on a first team deal prior to the 2010/11 campaign, making 10 appearances throughout his rookie year.
With the long serving, much loved Alex Wilkinson having left the Club in the close season for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in the Korean Republic K-League, Sainsbury will have every opportunity to win a starting spot for the Club this campaign.
Having also made 10 competitive appearances last season, few would bet against Trent Sainsbury doubling his current tally of 20 appearances for Central Coast this campaign.
Sainsbury extended his deal with the Club earlier this year, his current contract now ensuring his will remain in the yellow and navy until the completion of the 2013/14 term.
