Central Coast Mariners sign former WSL forward Jade Pennock on loan

The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce the signing of Jade Pennock, with the English forward joining the club on loan from Birmingham City.

A versatile footballer who can play right across the front three, Pennock learned her craft in the American College System with Montevallo Falcons and North Georgia Nighthawks after coming through the Leeds United academy.

From there she returned to the UK, playing for the likes of Harrogate Town and Doncaster Belles before signing with Sheffield United in 2018.

She had an extremely successful three-year stint with the Blades, winning the clubs Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Manager’s Player of the Year award in her first campaign.

She finished her time with the club as Sheffield’s highest ever Championship goal scorer and assister, before departing for Birmingham City, who at the time were in the Women’s Super League.

During her tenure in Blue, Pennock achieved numerous accolades, with her 22/23 season a particular standout. She scored 14 goals in all competitions, while also being named the Women’s Championship Player of the Season.

The forward now arrives on the Central Coast in search of a new challenge and is excited to get started ahead of what promises to be a huge season.

“I’m so excited to be joining the Mariners for this season. It is a move that we have been working on for a while, so to officially be a Mariner is incredible,” Pennock said.

“As soon as I spoke to Emily and she described the family feel between the club and the local community, I knew that it was a project that I wanted to be a part of. I feel like my ambitions and values align perfectly with the club.

“I’m an aggressive forward who will always work hard for the team. I want to do everything this season to help the team challenge at the top of the table and have a strong finals run, trying to better last season’s results. I can’t wait to get started, meet our incredible fans and play in this amazing stadium.”

Central Coast Mariners Ninja A-League Head Coach Emily Husband is thrilled to have Pennock at the club, seeing her as an extremely valuable addition.

“We are very pleased to be able to get this deal completed to make Jade a Mariner. She is someone who we have been keeping an eye on for a while, and to have her here on the Coast is brilliant. Jade has a lot of experience playing at a very high level for the majority of her career, which will be valuable to us as a team,” Husband said.

“She has fantastic energy and quality in the final third, is strong technically, and is a clinical finisher. Jade has all of the qualities to be a top player in this league and we can’t wait for her to get started.”
