Q. What is the future of the A-League Women’s team?
TSG’s takeover of Central Coast Mariners from the APL includes the Men’s A-League team and the Academy. The APL is working with engaged parties to secure a new investor for the A-League Women’s team to enable them to participate in the 2026-27 season.
Q. Is there any impact to the Academy and youth programmes?
No, the Academy is fully part of the acquisition and is an important part of the club’s identity. We do not anticipate any disruption to existing plans for this season where both men’s and women’s NPL and youth sides will field teams.
Academy staff and coaches have worked extremely hard to build what exists today, and we are committed to supporting that continuity and building on it.
Q. What does this mean for players and coaching staff?
Matt Simon will remain as Mariners’ Sporting Director and is working behind the scenes to build a strong playing group and coaching staff for the 2026-27 season. Any specific player or coaching decisions will be communicated directly by the club.
Q: Who will run the club, and when does the transition happen?
TSG takes operational control of the club from 1 July 2026. The APL will continue to support the transition over the coming weeks to ensure continuity. TSG is currently in the process of appointing a new CEO and an announcement will be made in due course.
