Bozanic nets in Swiss Cup

Former Central Coast Mariners midfielder Oliver Bozanic was amongst the goals for FC Luzern during the second round of the Schweizer Cup at the weekend.

The men from the Swissporarena advanced to the third round of the Swiss Cup via a comfortable 4-1 victory away to lower league outfit US Terre Sainte, with Bozanic netting in the 63rd minute of play.

In the Belgian Pro League Mathew Ryan-s Club Brugge won by the same scoreline as Bozanic-s Luzern at the Jan Breydel Stadion against Lierse SK. Brugge moved up to second place in the Belgian top flight courtesy of the victory.

Elsewhere in Europe Mustafa Amini managed 52 minutes for BVB Borussia Dortmund II away to FC Hansa Rostock. Dortmund-s second team have improved their form over the past month, and are now 11th in their league.

In the United Kingdom, midfield enforcer Mile Jedinak skippered Crystal Palace at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Unfortunately for Jedinak and his Palace teammates, the Red Devils had too much class, running out 2-0 winners.

Tom Rogic was an unused substitute for Glasgow Celtic at the weekend as Neil Lennon-s team emerged as 3-1 victors away to Heart of Midlothian.

In Asia, Alex Wilkinson played a full game in the Korea Republic FA Cup Semi-Final away to Busan I-Park. Wilkinson-s ‘Green Warriors- won 3-1 to advance to the Final of the prestigious competition.

Meanwhile in China, on-loan Mariners striker Daniel McBreen played a full match as Shanghai SIPG won 2-0 at home to Hangzhou Greentown. Former Central Coast attacker Bernie Ibini played until half-time as Shanghai moved to ninth in the Chinese Super League.

And it was a fixture to forget for Rostyn Griffiths away to Beijing Guoan at the weekend. Griffiths- Guangzhou R&F were humbled 6-0 by Beijing, however despite the disappointing defeat remain in fifth position in the top tier of Chinese football.
