Bojic extends time at Mariners

In-form right-back Pedj Bojic will remain at the Mariners for the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season, after agreeing to a one-year contract extension this week.

The 26-year-old has become a cornerstone of the Mariners defensive structure in his three seasons at the club so far, since arriving from then English League One side Northampton Town for the start of the 2008/09 campaign, and says he-s delighted to be sticking around.

“It feels really good, it will be my fourth year coming up so I-m very excited about it,” said Bojic.

“It-s gone really quick, time goes by and this year has gone really quick especially as we have been doing really well.”

Bojic has so far racked up 59 appearances in the Yellow and Navy, finding the back of the net on two occasions, both of those coming during last season-s campaign, and says he-s confident he is making the right-back position his own under new Head Coach Graham Arnold.

“The way things have been going this year, we have done really well under Graham Arnold and if Arnie wants me I will stay, playing under him has been great and hopefully we can continue that,” Bojic said.

With his future secure for another season, Bojic says he is now looking forward to making the remainder of 2010/11 one to remember, as he sets his sights on his first piece of silverware with the club, which won it-s only Premiership title to date in the season before the speedy defender arrived in Gosford.

“Structurally and tactically we have been doing really well, Arnie has done well with the players he has brought in and I-d like to think it is (the best Mariners squad I-ve played with),” Bojic said.

Bojic and his Mariners teammates will be next in action in week 19 of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season when they take on Gold Coast United this Sunday, 19 December at Skilled Park, Robina. Kick-off is at 4:00pm QST (5:00pm AEDT) and entry is FREE.
