BLOG: Four reasons to get to #SYDvCCM

This Sunday we’re taking on Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium, Sydney. Ben Ingram gives you four reasons to get to the game!

Mate vs. Mate
Sunday will mark the first encounter between ex-Mariners coach Graham Arnold and the Club’s current Head Coach, Phil Moss. After Arnold’s early-season departure to Vegalta Sendai last year, Moss, then Assistant Coach, stood up to the plate and led the boys in yellow to a strong third place finish in the league. ‘Arnie’ and ‘Mossy’ are great mates off the field, and both would like to claim bragging rights for when they next get together for coffee (or a VB!).

Important three points
With Mariners sitting sixth with a game in hand, claiming three points at Allianz will ensure the yellow and navy keep pace with those atop the Hyundai A-League. Moss’ men couldn’t quite get the chocolates against the Phoenix, but having had a week off they will be fresh, sharp, and ready to take on their rivals in sky blue. Arnold has led Sydney FC to the joint lead of the Hyundai A-League after three rounds. Will the Mariners be the team to put an end to Sydney’s impressive start, or will the Sky Blues continue their early season form?

Attack or Defence?
Arnold currently boasts one of the best attacking line-ups in Hyundai A-League history. Shane Smeltz, Alex Brosque, Bernie Ibini, Marc Janko, Corey Gameiro – the Sky Blues definitely have goals in them. But if any team can keep this list of attackers at bay, it’s the Mariners. The men from Gosford put their defensive structure before all else – Eddy Bosnar, Storm Roux, Josh Rose, Zac Anderson, Nick Montgomery and others ensuring Central Coast have a solid defensive unit. Some of these players will no doubt be key to the outcome of Sunday’s clash. What an interesting duel.

Just down the road!
Geographically we’re looking at another derby! And another derby gives you an excellent excuse to travel down to the Harbour City! Allianz is only one-hour away from Gosford, so why not trip it down and add to the atmosphere? Just a reminder, buses will be replacing trains this weekend due to track work. Yuck, we know!
You can book a direct coach through our bus partner Coastal Liner by clicking here, or grab your mates and car pool! Whatever you do, head down to Allianz on Sunday afternoon and support the boys!
